My Mommy's Milk

Breastfeeding is going great and I've really come to appreciate and love the time i get to spend with my little girl. I always thought that after babies where born your body was done growing them...
it's amazing what breast milk can do!

I think it's wonderful the technology we have today that has come to produce formula but I've become a believer that there is something special in breast milk.

Every morning, so I don't leak all over myself and the bed, anywhere from 2-4am I pump those suckers! I now have a freezer full of breast milk and don't really have the need for it because Elsa and I are always together. I don't dare throw the yummy stuff away. So with my new found belief I decided to donate it!! Every baby deserves to partake in the rich mommy made nutrients and with some research I've been doing have realized there is a need. I know you're probably thinking... weird or a least that's what Blake thought. The milk bank pasteurizes (gets ride of any bacteria, just like they do with cow's milk) all the milk they get just right so all the good stuff remains. So really it's practically the same as drinking cow's milk and who knows how many cow teats you've been drinking from! Tag me and herd me into a corral. I think it's a great idea and they've never been sued for any milk they've given to a baby. That's a surprise in today's society. They also do blood work so they know you don't have anything you could pass on to babies.
Oprah has a neat story on her website about a women that donated her breast milk. I don't think I'll ever donate as much as her or ever get on Oprah but at least some babies can have the rich nutrients of a 2am pump.

2 Months!!

Our little Elsa is 2 months old!! I can't believe it!
On Monday, she had her 2 month doctor appointment.
She weighs 10 lb 4 oz
length 23 inches
Blake didn't have class the same time as her appointment so I thought it would be nice for papa to come. He tried to make every excuse to get out of it... I didn't know what the big deal was. I didn't think anything of it and brushed it off, I just thought has was being a butt-head.
Blake held her during the appointment as they checked her out, no big deal.
After the doctor was done he handed Elsa to me. Shortly after the nurse came in to give her her shots. As the nurse pined Elsa's legs down (which looked very uncomfortable) Elsa started to cry, and then the shots where given and she let out her breathless, soundless cry which breaks every ones heart. I pick her up to cuddle her and tell her it's OK. I turn around and Blake has tears streaming down his face. How heartless I felt!
I then realized the importance the role of a father has...
to guide, to teach, to provide, to bless, to protect!
That is why God made man (fathers and husbands) the priesthood holder.
Blake knew the vaccinations are good for her but broke his heart to see her get hurt. How blessed we are to have such a wonderful man we call papa and sweetie!

She wasn't this happy at the doctor's office.
We are so blessed to have such a happy baby!!

Na Night Time

Elsa, since she was born has been sleeping in a little cradle in mama and papa's room. Which has been great... but I wasn't quite sure how long that should last. So I had Blake put together the crib and I tried to make as cute of a nursery as I could in the room next to us. Remember, we live in a house that was built in the '80s so the floral wallpaper doesn't quite match anything I have but it really doesn't matter!
She has been sleeping so good! From day one she's been sleeping better than she was with mama and papa. Probably because we can't hear every little noise she makes. She sleeps 7 to 8 hours a night!! Yippee!
Ready for bed!!
She almost doesn't look like a baby anymore... almost
Yes, those are little slippers!!
Elsa's room!!
I know... poor girl is cursed with cows. That's my fault.

Talking Baby

Elsa is continuing to grow!! It's so hard to believe she was born nearly 2 months ago.
Elsa is learning very quickly! This past week she really has become vocal and loves to talk back at her mama and papa. Her little sounds are so cute and we love to play with her!

She'll be saying her Articles of Faith in no time!
